Who we are

Amal Som Institute of Mental Health (ASIMH) is an autonomous institution dedicated to strengthening community mental health through training, research, and information dissemination. Rooted in decades of grassroots experience, ASIMH works to make mental health care accessible, inclusive, and sustainable, particularly for underserved rural and semi-urban communities in India.

Research

Establishing a comprehensive mental health information and resource center accessible to professionals and the public.

Developing structured certificate and diploma programs for community-based mental health support workers, educators, and caregivers.

The Institute operates with the belief that mental health care must be accessible, community-oriented, and sustainable. It emphasizes empowering non-specialists, families, and community members to actively participate in mental health care delivery.

Training

Conducting community-based surveys and collaborative research with national and international mental health organizations to inform policy and practice.

The mission of Amal Som Institute of Mental Health (ASIMH) is to bridge the mental health treatment gap in India through community-based, sustainable, and evidence-informed approaches.

David

With a background in business finance and having grown up in a developing community with limited access to basic educational supplies, David builds relationships with our key investors and partners.

Natacha

With a masters degree in Early Childhood Education, as well as strong ties to some of our most important communities, Natacha is influential in shaping our education policies, proposals, and fundraising rounds.
